Save the Data: Archiving and Open Source

• If allowable, archive public datasets on third party systems not subject to tampering by the administration. Many agencies SoPs explicitly provide for this, or at least don’t prohibit it.
• Harvard Dataverse is available for archive of data
• For any technical products such as computer source code or statistical/analytical packages, consider publishing as open source via Github or another platform. Understand your agency’s policies around Open Source – but federal law actually states a preference for making software available in this manner, where not otherwise prohibited.
